موضوعThe United Kingdom must designate the IRGC as a terrorist organisation without delay
متنDear Home Secretary,
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is not a conventional military force. It is the primary instrument of political repression inside Iran and a central driver of terrorism and destabilisation abroad.
For years, the IRGC has overseen mass arrests, torture, executions of protesters, and violent crackdowns on peaceful civilian movements. Beyond Iran’s borders, it funds armed militias, exports terror through proxy networks, and has been repeatedly linked to threats against dissidents and democratic societies.
The European Union has now formally designated the IRGC as a terrorist organisation. The United Kingdom must not remain behind its allies on such a critical matter of security and principle.
A full terrorist designation is necessary to disrupt IRGC financing, close legal loopholes, strengthen enforcement, and demonstrate meaningful solidarity with the Iranian people.
The UK must act immediately and list the IRGC in its entirety under terrorism legislation.
Yours sincerely,
A concerned citizen
